Northern Plains Ballet, dba Northern Plains Dance (NPD), is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Bismarck, ND. A self-perpetuating board of directors, currently numbering ten members, oversees the organization. NPD was founded in 1998 as a dance academy, providing training in all dance styles for North Dakota students ages three to adult. In 2003, NPD expanded its vision to include a full performance season providing opportunities for Bismarck area audiences to experience and understand the power of dance performance to communicate aspects of the human experience, while simultaneously providing students enrolled in the academy with opportunities to gain performance experience in professional productions. NPD has set the following strategic priorities: strengthening the academy’s quality of training, building academy enrollments, increasing attendance at public performances, creating opportunities for artistic collaborations and educational programming in connection with NPD’s public performances
