Dakota Pro Musica was founded in October 2020 as a new chamber choir in the Bismarck-Mandan region. It was designed in the model of our professional choirs from across the US which create concerts using a short and concentrated rehearsal period for each concert series. In February 2021, Dakota Pro Musica was incorporated as a non-profit music and performing arts organization, and later received its 501(c)3 designation from the IRS. Since September 2021, all musicians have been paid for their work with Dakota Pro Musica, making us the first fully professional choral ensemble in North Dakota.
Dakota Pro Musica believes that professional quality choral music can help build community through careful selection of repertoire on themes important to the larger community. We strive to bring our concerts to cities and towns across Central ND, and typically offer each of our concerts in 2-4 different places each concert series. We also work to make all of our concerts available for no admission cost so they are accessible to everyone in the community. Over the past 4 seasons we have offered concerts in Bismarck, Mandan, Jamestown, Dickinson, Minot, Belfield, Richardton, Washburn, and Fort Yates.
